Heard the news? The very dreamy and very philanthropic George Clooney and entertainment journalist Dave Karger have teamed up with Charitybuzz to auction an intimate lunch date at the SoHo House in West Hollywood to benefit GLSEN, the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network. Two lucky fans will join George and Dave for a lunch they’ll never forget!
Just last month, Clooney auctioned off his Tesla Roadster at a live auction to benefit Sudan. Next month, he’ll be given the Brass Ring Award award for his charitable work at Carousel of Hope, Hollywood’s glitziest charity gala. And he may just steal our vote for most charitable man in Hollywood…
The Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network strives to assure that each member of every school community is valued and respected regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression. We’re excited to help such an awesome cause by auctioning such a covetable experience!
Filmmaker Rob Reiner, known for movies such as A Few Good Men and When Harry Met Sally, and his wife Michelle will be honored at this year’s GLSEN Respect Awards in LA on October 21. To help raise funds for such an amazing cause, GLSEN has also launched their online auction on charitybuzz, live now through November 2!
doGOODER of the Week: Alexander Skarsgard sinks his fangs into philanthropy

Cold, calculating and ruthless are just a few words True Blood fans would use to characterize Nordic vampire Eric Northman. As for Alexander Skarsgard, the man behind the bloodsucker, we have some other choice words to describe him, and one of them is doGOODER.
Born in Stockholm, Sweden, Alexander Skarsgard has always been free-spirited, becoming an actor at age seven, quitting the business at thirteen, enlisting in the Swedish military at nineteen, and spending short stints in various universities in both Sweden and the U.S. before considering acting once again. After starring in movies such as Zoolander and HBO miniseriesGeneration Kill, Skarsgard scored the role of Eric Northman in HBO’s True Blood. Affectionately dubbed “A.Skars” by his fans, Alexander has also gained overwhelming public attention for his undeniable good looks, as the five-time winner of Sweden’s Sexiest Man honor.
Doing good while looking good is really what A.Skars does best, as he is using his fame to fuel philanthropic causes. In 2009 he teamed up with co-star Kristin Bauer to support theInternational Fund for Animal Welfare’s Tails for Whales campaign, raising awareness for the threats facing whales and their habitats. This year he showed his support for the It Gets Better campaign, recording an It Gets Better PSA on behalf of The Trevor Project and GLSEN where he made a strong statement, saying “We have to teach our children that, not only through our words but also through our actions, that every single human being has equal value. And to bully someone or for society to discriminate against someone because they have a different sexual orientation, it’s unacceptable.”
This past summer, Skarsgard hit the charitybuzz auction block to benefit Greenpeace International, and donated a signed and used True Blood script to help Greenpeace build their state-of-the-art environmental preservation vessel, the Rainbow Warrior III. Now, he has returned to do good for Communities in Schools Los Angeles, helping to provide the funds to give public school students needed resources. This time around, Skarsgard is giving fans the chance to meet him and co-star Ryan Kwanten on the set of True Blood. As independent and handsome as Mr. Skarsgard is, he takes the prize with his generosity, and we are happy to call him our doGOODER this week!
