Reauthorization sends the message that our communities, our families — and all people — must be safe; that survivors must have the tools to heal and reclaim their lives; that we must engage the next generation in this effort — and that breaking the cycle of violence is an unassailable national priority. To send any other message is unconscionable.”

As a kick-ass cop on hit show Law & Order: SVU, and the founder and president of nonprofit The Joyful Heart Foundation, it’s safe to say that life is imitating art for Mariska Hargitay, and for her, the more she can do to help a good cause, the better! Hargitay has taken a firm stance on sexual abuse and violence issues, and she’s using her star power to shine light on the importance of the VAWA (Violence Against Women Act).
